Louisiana Culinary Trails: A Cultural Gumbo
An epicurean excursion awaits in Louisiana! Louisiana is known for its spicy way of life, and nowhere is that spice more evident than the rich cuisine of the Gumbo State. Stir together handfuls of French, Spanish, Native American, African, Caribbean, and Acadian, season it well with Italian, German, Irish, Asian, Hungarian, Middle Eastern, and other exotic cultures, add a dash of uptown and down-home, let it simmer a long while, and you’ve got the starter for some of Louisiana’s legendary cuisine.
Hungry for adventure? Don’t look any further. We’ve made it easy: a guidebook, maps, a website…and seven culinary trails that will satisfy your belly, as well as your soul. Once you get a taste, you’ll be begging for seconds!
Each trail offers the best taste of each region’s specialties, mixing mom-and-pop cafes, bakeries, hoity-toity restaurants, farmers markets, hole-in-the-wall hideaways, seafood shacks, local grocery stores, sandwich shops, roadside stands, food festivals, and more. Ditch that diet and climb on board at the Southern Women’s Show for a rousing culinary tour of Louisiana.
